SEMINAR: Agile MBSE + SysML for Managers (Tool-Independent)

COURSE ID: SEM-MBSE-MGR
DESCRIPTION:
Exponential increases in the size and complexity of software-intensive Systems-of-Systems are stressing traditional document-centric Systems Engineering Processes (SEPs) to their limits.
The problem is exacerbated by the proliferation of autonomous systems on air, land, and sea (UAVs, UGVs, USVs) that use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), which are opening a Pandora's box of critical control and safety issues.

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) aims to improve the efficiency and quality of traditional SEPs by integrating rigorous architectural modeling techniques based on the SysML (Systems Modeling Language) de facto standard.
So far the results of applying MBSE methods to SysML drawing tools without Modeling & Simulation (ModSim) rigor have been mixed at best. However, when MBSE best practices, ModSim rigor, and Agile Engineering best practices are synergistically combined, the resulting hybrid Agile MBSE approach has proven effective on a wide range of tough problem domains, from healthcare to telecom, and from defense to manufacturing:

Best Practices (MBSE) + Rigor (ModSim) + Best Practices (Agile Engineering methods) = Agile MBSE

This MBSE seminar for Project Managers and executive decision makers provides practical guidance on how to achieve success and avoid failure in mission-critical System-of-Systems Engineering projects by applying proven MBSE principles and best practices. The seminar uses the MBSE System Architecture Tetrad to explain the four complementary MBSE technologies, including languages, tools, frameworks, and processes. roadmap for managers to build an Agile MBSE Core Architecture Team (CAT) that can act as a force multiplier to reap the benefits, and avoid the pitfalls, of transitioning to MBSE.

DURATION: This seminar is available in full day (3.5 hrs + 1 hr break + 3.5 hrs) and half-day (4 hr w/ refreshment break) formats.

AGILE MBSE EXPERT LECTURER: Cris Kobryn is the Founder of PivotPoint Technology and is an internationally-recognized expert in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) languages (SysML, UML2), enterprise architecture frameworks (DoDAF2, UPDM2, UAF), and tools (Cameo, MagicDraw, Sparx EA. Cris led the original SysML (Systems Modeling Language) Partners open source project, for which he received the INCOSE Outstanding Service Award in 2006, and the SysML Partners received the SD Times 100 Modeling award in 2007. Cris has been architecting and designing distributed software-intensive systems for three decades, and is known for successfully leading the UML 1.x, UML 2.0, and SysML international standardization teams. Recently, he designed the CyberML™ (Cyber Modeling Language™) to precisely specify Agile enterprise architectures that are scalable and cybersecure. You can learn more about Cris' qualifications as a MBSE and Agile Architecture expert on his corporate bio page…

AUDIENCE: Engineering executives, project managers, chief engineers, chief architects, engineers, scientists, and others who want to learn how the MBSE + SysML can improve how they architect, analyze, design, and manage complex systems.

PREREQUISITES: Systems engineering, software engineering or other STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) experience building large, complex systems-of-systems. No other experience or prior training is required.
